Apple is building a 16K VR headset

Vrvana’s Totem headset

One of the general suppositions numerous in the market had been working under was that Apple may "skip" game centered VR inside and out for moving toward the way of life centered AR advancements that put a computerized layer amongst users and this present reality.

But while, rivals like Microsoft, Google, and arch-rival Samsung have made giants leaps in the field of AR and virtual reality (VR), Apple has seemed rather bullish on the technology, having so far only integrated it in its latest iOS version.

Today, a report from CNET writer Shara Tibken, citing an unnamed source, suggests Apple is targeting a 2020 release for what sounds like a combination AR/VR headset "that would be untethered from a computer or smartphone". The report also mentions that internally, the project is being referred as "T288".

HTC is working with Intel to build a wireless or standalone VR headset technology to the Vive and for some time now, we've been seeing demos of it at events.

Apple is developing a wireless headset that can be used for both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), according to a new report.

Tibken writes that the project, codenamed T288, is still in its early stages and could be scrapped or changed by Apple. Apple's CEO Tim Cook has praised AR technology a lot in the past and has dropped hints as to what this technology means for the iPhone. By 2020 VR headsets probably won't rely on stationary external hardware.

If we talk about the future, Augmented Reality would cover medical, engineering and more areas in the coming years.

Apple's new VR and AR Headset would operate without the wires. A powerful in-house chip - with a 5-nanometer processor - will be at the core of this box, allowing for high-speed and efficient performance with the headset. Yes, the headset would be fully wireless which would be connected with a small box. This processor would work as a brain of the headset and the headset would be controlled by the built-in processor itself. It would be also using a processor just like Apple's Headset.
