Spouse Of Orlando Nightclub Shooter Defensed Of All Charges

Wife of Pulse nightclub killer Omar Mateen found not guilty of aiding husband's attack that left 49 people dead

And there was plenty of reason to assume that Noor Salman's case wouldn't be an exception: The 31-year-old widow of Pulse Nightclub shooter Omar Mateen had confessed to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents that she'd known about her husband's intention to carry out a terrorist attack in the name of ISIS and had gone with him to scout out the nightclub as a possible location.

She was charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, as well as obstruction of justice in relation to Mateen's 2016 massacre that killed 50 people.

In an interview with the New York Times months after the deadly shooting, Salman had said that she knew her husband watched ISIL-related videos but added that she was "unaware of everything" about his intent to kill people at the nightclub. Police killed Mateen after the attack.

Prosecutors said Salman cased possible attack sites with her husband and did nothing to stop his plans.

They asked several questions, including about the statement Salman made to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This includes Orange County Sheriff Jerry L. Demings who said, "I am disappointed in the outcome of the trial and know that the victims and/or their families are more disappointed".

Law enforcement officials at the scene of the Pulse nightclub in June of 2016.

Salman's attorneys argued that their client was not an accomplice but a simple-minded victim of her husband's infidelity and lies. Some people, you know, were watching the trial in hopes of obtaining some answers as to why, you know, Omar Mateen did this and why this happened. She faced life in prison.

Coalition warns Iran as Saudi foils missile raid
The Saudi government has threatened Tehran with retaliation after Houthi rebels fired seven missiles into Saudi Arabia last weekend.

" Our idea at the same time was attested today", defense lawyer Linda Moreno stated.

As we shared before, Salman at first confessed to knowing her husband's plans, which led to her initial arrest.

However, a forensic clinical psychologist testified that she gave false confessions due to her low IQ scores, mental issues, lack of sleep, and extended interrogations. They showed that she had trouble holding down a job at Kmart and obtaining a driver's license.

"Noor Salman should never have been on trial", said Ahmed Bedier, a civil rights advocate and the president of United Voices of America. While the conviction of Noor Salman would not have brought anyone back or undone the crime, but the massacre now goes unresolved and still leaves many questioning her involvement. According to The Washington Post, Salman had also sent a text message to her husband that read "If Ur mom calls say nimo invited you out and noor wants to stay home"-another piece of evidence that through the jury through a loop".

"It's a awful, random, senseless killing by a monster", Swift said during closing arguments. "The importance to this case is that if he didn't know, she couldn't know".

"Nothing harmful would come out of her", a friend of Salman's who was identified only as Ms. Ahmed told jurors. A judge rejected motions to either dismiss the case or order a mistrial earlier this week. Authorities had questioned her for 11 hours.

Salman also advised Mateen to lie to his mother when she inquired about his whereabouts on the night of the shooting, prosecutors said.
