Facebook will launch dating service 'soon'

Facebook, Inc. (FB) CEO Sells $46130300.00 in Stock

VideoEmarketer Analyst Debra Aho Williamson discusses the new Facebook dating app and speculates on the motives behind it.

On his part, Chris Cox, Facebook's chief product officer, said the social network had been pondering a dating feature for over a decade, but only seriously began considering it in 2016. It's an opt-in feature, and users won't be matched with people they're already friends with on Facebook. Details about the dating service remain scant, but Zuckerberg said it would "be for building real, long-term relationships", not just hook-ups. Next to each one is a big padlock, that when tapped on "unlocks" to reveal a list of all of the other Facebook Dating users - none of which are your friends - who are also planning on going to the event.

Facebook did unveil a rather surprising feature to help you safeguard your privacy.

"(There) are over 40 million Facebook users in the United Kingdom and they deserve to hear accurate answers from the company he created and whether he is able to keep their users' data safe", Collins wrote. Koum clashed with Facebook over its approach to encryption and personal data, according to a Washington Post report.

"What I've seen is that it lines up with what you expect it to be", Zuckerberg told the second annual "Off the Record" conference, organized by leaders from The Information, Quartz and BuzzFeed. The app lets users create custom mobile views of metrics like revenue, retention, demographics and active users, making it an attempt to address the fact that marketers want simple ways to measure the effectiveness of their campaign.

"And if we are committed to building meaningful relationships, then this is perhaps the most meaningful of all", Mr Zuckerberg said. Another significant feature would be a separate chat-box which, unlike the Facebook Messenger, will not allow you to send photos or links which Facebook calls it a 'safety measure'.

Amazon Is Expanding In Boston, And Bringing 2000 Jobs To Seaport
More than 6,000 people now work for Amazon in Canada, including 1,000 researchers and engineers in Vancouver at several sites. Trudeau said there are many reasons why industry giants such as Amazon choose to settle and grow in Canada.

"I do think that helping this be sustainable is the most important thing to do", Zuckerberg said. The stock price crashed as much as 20 percent from $46.22 to $36.12 per share.

"Now you've got the Tinder generation, where it tries to infer a lot of that information and uses algorithms and machine learning so that you don't even have to say what your preferences are, it can figure it out".

And yet, Zuckerberg admitted earlier in his speech that Facebook is not flawless and that the company "will make mistakes and they will have consequences and we will need to fix them".

"Facebook could have copied swiping apps in its attempt to enter the dating space, but instead they copied Hinge", the spokesperson said.

Concerns about privacy on Facebook have grown since the social network's admission in March that the data of millions of users was wrongly harvested by political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.
