Donald Trump Slams Justin Trudeau, Calls Him "Dishonest & Weak" Over G7 Verdict

One 'rant,' rough talks sour G7 mood in confrontations with Trump

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, late Sunday, called Trump's revocation of support for the G7 joint communique "sobering and a little depressing", while adding, in a rare one-on-one interview with ARD public television, "but that's not the end" of the Group of Seven.

Heading into the leaders' summit in La Malbaie, Que., there were deep concerns the G7 alliance was fast becoming a G6 plus one because of a widening gulf between the US and the rest of the group in key areas such as climate and trade.

Mr Trump tweeted: "PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, "US Tariffs were kind of insulting" and he 'will not be pushed around'".

Trump roiled the Group of Seven meeting in Canada by first agreeing to a group statement on trade only to withdraw from it while complaining that he had been blindsided by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's criticism of Trump's tariff threats at a summit-ending news conference.

"He is not going to permit any show of weakness on the trip to negotiate with North Korea".

Trump's supporters also criticized Trudeau.

Left unclear was what exactly Mr Trudeau had said that so offended Mr Trump. And what did Trudeau do as soon as the plane took off from Canadian airspace, Trudeau stuck our president in the back.

Trudeau hosted the summit on the back of several tense weeks of trade discussions with the United States, who imposed tariffs on aluminum and steel imports from several countries a few months back, but offered Canada and Mexico an exemption from the fees as they continued NAFTA discussions.

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a volley of tweets on Monday venting anger on some of Washington's closest North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies over the United State's trade deficit, following a divisive G7 meeting in Canada.

In response, Trump tweeted on his way to Singapore that he instructed US representatives not to endorse the communique.

"The historic and important agreement we all reached at #G7Charlevoix will help make our economies stronger and people more prosperous, protect our democracies, safeguard our environment and protect women and girls' rights around the world".

"That's what matters", he wrote.

The Canadian prime minister's office responded to Trump's tweets accusing Trudeau of "false statements" on Saturday, saying that the Prime Minister said nothing during the G7 summit that he had not said previously.

Trump was referring to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the tweet.

He described Trudeau's actions after the G7 summit as a "sophomoric play". "He did a whole disservice to the whole G-7".

He insisted, like Trump himself has done many times, that Canada has enormous tariffs itself - especially on certain dairy and food products.

Navarro appeared on "Fox News Sunday", and Kudlow was on CNN's "State of the Union" and CBS' "Face the Nation" and Harper spoke on Fox's "Sunday Morning Futures". And, overall, the USA has an $8.4 billion surplus with Canada.
