Tesla Model Y teased again, reveal coming March 2019

Elon Musk co-founder and CEO of Tesla Inc

The Model 3 is Tesla's first mass-market vehicle and was created to broaden the company's customer base beyond the luxury segment.

Tesla has plenty of new products in the works, but one thing it will never build is a motorcycle, despite Elon Musk's penchant for biker jackets.

Cal/OSHA requires large employers including Tesla to send injury rate data for 2017 by July 1, and Tesla could share that information with the public, Michaels said.

At the Tuesday annual stockholders' meeting, after the voting on the proposals, Musk took to the stage and said that it was "quite likely" that Tesla could start building 5,000 Model 3s a week by the end of this month.

A mix between the Model X and Model 3, the Model Y will be officially announced in March 2019, according to Electrek.

If Tesla makes good on that promise, it may assuage some investors' fear. Musk was mum on details for the Model Y, and it's not clear where the small crossover would be produced.

Although Musk hasn't yet said how much the Model Y will cost when it goes on sale, he added Tuesday that the automaker expects to cross a key battery-cost threshold of $100-per-kilowatt-hour later this year.

Musk's confidence in hitting the Model 3 production target is based on recent upgrades at Tesla's Fremont, California manufacturing facility. "This is going to sound really cheesy, but we build our cars with love". Shares fell as much as seven per cent after Musk's snub, evaporating $2 billion USA from Tesla's stock market value.

Arguing that the sprawling company has become hard to oversee, one investor proposed splitting the chairman and chief executive jobs, both of which Musk holds.

'As we expand our EV capabilities and commitment, we get even more excited about the role electric motorcycles will play in growing our business'.

There are a lot of qualifiers in that sentence, but the Model 3 has seen a lot of interest as the most affordable electric auto from the automaker, even as Tesla struggles to try and ship at the same rate it is selling, and Jaguar's rival I-PACE electric vehicle sees growing interest. Which is pretty good for a vehicle that nobody has managed to get their hands on yet.

'Then I had a road bike until I was 17 and was nearly killed by a truck, ' Musk said.
