Daredevil Travis Pastrana replicates Evel Knievel's jumps

Evel Knievel jumping the fountains at Caesars Palace in 1967

And then there's the finale, a replication of perhaps Knievel's most infamous stunt, jumping the fountain at Caesars Palace.

Travis Pastrana is no stranger to death-defying stunts.

Each one was modeled after a jump Knievel completed or attempted, and Pastrana went just a bit bigger on all three of them.

That ended the night for Pastrana, who dove into the Caesar's Palace fountains to celebrate his successful throwback to a different time of spectacle in America.

"This is all about Evel, and the coolest thing about this whole thing, all of Evel's family is out here", said Pastrana. To be here, in Las Vegas, so much of my history has been here. I proposed to my wife here. "Thank you all for coming out here. I'm not done yet, but this was definitely one of the coolest things, the coolest thing I've ever been able to do". Pastrana set up 16 buses and took his Indian into the Vegas sky. Where, I'm jumping basically a street bike.

Evel Knievel on his Triumph before the 1968 attempt. He convinced huge throngs at both jump sites that he could fly a motorcycle, too. The trick to this one was clearing the 15-foot-tall fountain.

Colombian who broke Neymar and Brazil's hearts retires
But the title talk has been drowned out in much of the world by a debate over Neymar's play acting. He later fed a cross that led to the team's second goal by Roberto Firmino.

The image of Knievel in full red, white and blue gear gliding through the air with no guarantee of a graceful landing captivated America and was a forerunner to today's extreme sports scene. "These bikes are a little faster and a little lighter (than Knievel's Harley), but it's similar".

Knievel jumped over 50 crushed cars at the Los Angeles Coliseum in 1973, and 14 Greyhound buses in 1975 at Ohio's Kings Island amusement park. He did wheelies and burnouts and posed for selfies with people riding in taxis while saluting the huge crowd on the Strip with clenched fists and upturned thumbs. According to Jalopnik, that's over 400 feet of jumps.

Among those cheering was Kelly Knievel, Evel's 57-year-old son and a longtime Las Vegas resident.

Before the event, Pastrana said: "For me, this is going to be really awesome". I had [the] first Nitro Circus show here.

There would be a fourth unadvertised jump before the end of the night.
