Trump lawyer blasts Russia probe as ‘most corrupt ever

In memo to special counsel Trump lawyers cast former FBI Director Comey as dishonest and 'Machiavellian'

US President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani supports Trumps' upcoming face-to-face summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Giuliani, the top lawyer on Trump's legal team, told Fox News on Saturday he is asking Mueller for a "factual basis for the investigation" before the team considers allowing Trump to be interviewed by Mueller's team.

Davis appears to have taken an approach similar to that of Michael Avenatti, the attorney for Stormy Daniels who often uses social media to blast Trump, as well as Cohen, and numerous president's supporters.

"Michale Cohen feels under attack by Rudy Giuliani and the president", Borger said. "To subpoena the president has never been done successfully in the history of this country, and there is very strong law saying the president can't be subpoenaed", he said.

Giuliani told ABC, "We've been through everything on collusion and obstruction".

Giuliani contended that Mueller would not be pressing to interview Trump "if they had anything" against the president, although it is not known what evidence he may have collected.

Attorney Lanny Davis told The Hill's new morning show Rising with Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton that Cohen's statements to ABC News' George Stephanopolous in a July 2 interview were not a plea to get Trump to pay his legal bills but rather an act of separation. He said that the White House required not evidence of a criminal deed but at least some factual basis supporting suspicion of a crime.

These sources would not comment on whether Cohen's attorney, Guy Petrillo, has been meeting with prosecutors in NY and referred inquiries about any potential case to Petrillo.

Speaking on Sunday, Giuliani seemed unfazed by the recent developments - noting that Cohen "should cooperate with the government".

In less than three months on the job, Giuliani has shifted the timeframe and the parameters for any Trump-Mueller interview no fewer than seven times.

But he also argued that to rule out a pardon "wouldn't be fair to - to the president, wouldn't be fair to Cohen, wouldn't be fair to future presidents".

In an interview last week with Stephanopoulos, Cohen acknowledged that he soon could face criminal charges in an ongoing Federal Bureau of Investigation probe of his finances and business dealings. "We have no reason to believe he did anything wrong", Giuliani said on ABC's "This Week".

CNN analyst Gloria Borger also reported Monday that Cohen's attitude toward the president, to whom he was once devoted, has completely shifted.
