'We will never abolish ICE': Pence says to staff at ICE HQ

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez celebrated Tuesday after beating longtime Bronx Rep. Joseph Crowley in a primary election seen as a challenge to the Democratic Party leadership

Several top Democratic critics of Trump, some of them eyeing a possible 2020 campaign against him in the next presidential campaign, have called for the abolition of ICE and rethinking how the USA controls the influx of immigrants, many of them escaping crime and poverty in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Potential 2020 presidential hopefuls are joining the bandwagon. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris in an attempt to clarify the role of ICE to the lawmakers, while also accusing them of supporting unlawful activities and the MS-13 gang.

Pence singled out a handful of Democrats who've called for the agency's abolition, including Sens. In that sense, with diverted attention, the country is less safe from the very national security threats the Trump administration is supposedly so concerned about. About 35 people were arrested while protesting detention of children at the southern border and the Trump administration's other policies.

Faced with a barrage of criticism, Trump signed an executive order to halt the family separation practice, but made no specific provisions for those already split apart. In recent weeks, more politicians have endorsed a frequent rally change to "Abolish ICE". That was the right vote.

The Senate candidate said there are millions of immigrants in the US who are working the "crappiest jobs in this country that no person born in the United States of America is willing to take right now", and he wants them to be free from the fear of deportation. And, you know, what I would say about this, Michel, is that there was enforcement of immigration laws before ICE, and there will be after ICE.

"How can you sit there and say you are not for abolishing ICE when it is a terroristic organization?" asked a woman, who called herself an organizer in the Houston community.

The "Abolish ICE" movement is gaining ground and getting the attention of some Democrats in Congress, including Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal.

Trump Bashes Dems Pushing to Abolish ICE: 'Zero Chance'
Kevin Kelly, the agent in charge of Buffalo's Homeland Security Investigations office, is one of those who signed. ICE spokeswoman Liz Johnson condemned calls to abolish the agency as "dangerously misguided".

"Overall, Americans want to show compassion for those that are here, but want much tougher enforcement of immigration laws", Penn said. The agency has become a lightning rod under the Trump administration.

"They're weaponizing this heat", said protester Mike Shatz. "They can not be ordered by the White House to basically ignore their mission and the law, and that's what's happening".

On Thursday, the White House Press Office sent out a panicked release detailing all the ways America will be doomed if the agency, which was only created in 2003, were to be abolished. "As long has we have Trump he's the one in charge of their policies". The agency largely focuses on immigration enforcement and works predominately within the US.

"Bernie calls for abolishing our entire immigration system, which is honestly way further to the left than exclusively abolishing ICE".

Hartford Police Department said 35 people were arrested.

Future of immigration agency up for debate. "The president's zero-tolerance policy is repressive and inhumane". Eight-four percent - a huge number - said that cities should be required to notify immigration authorities. This was the question: "Many entering the USA illegally claim asylum and are held here pending a review of their claim for asylum". Sixty-one percent (73 percent of Republicans, 49 percent of Democrats, and 60 percent of independents) said current border security is inadequate.

As a result of enforcing that policy, parents and children who cross illegally are separated because the parents are put into the criminal justice system.
